Lady Dukes defeat Warriors, 49-28; boys fall in rematch

A pair of away matchups with Kecoughtan yielded two blowout results on Friday, as the Lady Dukes again defeated the Warriors and the Dukes boys’ team continued to struggle on the hardwood.

The Gloucester girls’ game tipped off at 5:30 and saw a tightly contested first quarter, but that would not hold. The Lady Dukes enjoyed a narrow 8-4 lead before erupting for a 14-4 run. They took that 14-point lead into half.

In the penultimate quarter, Kecoughtan added seven points to its total, but the Lady Dukes again scored in double digits to push the score to 35-15. As the final frame elapsed it became clear that the Lady Dukes defense came to play—the Warriors would not score double digits in any quarter of the contest.
