The Gloucester High School varsity softball team picked up two more shutout wins this past week against the Mathews Blue Devils and Phoebus Phantoms.
The Lady Dukes defeated Mathews, 15-0, last Wednesday, May 7, at home. Avery West pitched her third perfect game of the season, striking out 13 batters while allowing only two balls to be put in play.
West also led Gloucester at the plate as she achieved three hits for three at-bats and four RBIs. West hit a sacrifice fly for an RBI in the first inning, a double in the second inning, a two-run home run in the third and an RBI triple in the fourth inning.
Also contributing offensively were Autumn Cookson with two triples, Tessa Carteret with three RBIs and two hits, Cameron Palas with two RBIs and two hits, Alexis Dishman with two RBIs and two hits, Hannah Horsley with two hits and Kyndall Sales with a double and two RBIs.
