Lady Dukes crush Wolverines, 21-4

The Gloucester High School varsity softball team opened the 2021 season on April 27 with a 21-4 blowout of the host Woodside Wolverines.

GHS senior pitcher Sierra West gave up three hits and struck out 11 while giving up one earned run in the win. West also hit a home run to lead off the game and finished with two hits on the day.

Hailey Hardaway led the Dukes’ offense with four hits, including three doubles. Grace Saunders and Leighann Harper each contributed three hits and three RBIs.

Kaia Hutton, Lila Saunders and Shelby Harris each had two hits and combined for six RBIs. Gloucester slugged out 20 hits in five innings, with four hits going for extra bases.

The Gloucester Dukes host Kecoughtan in their first home game today at 4:30 p.m.
