Lady Dukes come from behind, now 10-1

Kaleigh Arnett powered the Gloucester High School varsity girls’ softball team to its 12-6 come-from-behind win at Bethel on Tuesday. Arnett had four hits and five RBIs as the Lady Dukes improved to 10-1. 

Gloucester scored two quick runs in the first inning on three straight doubles by Alyssa Shackelford, Morgan Haywood and Arnett. Bethel responded in the second half of the inning with five runs to take a 5-2 lead.

The Dukes chipped away at the lead by scoring in the second, third and fourth inning to get ahead, 8-6, after four innings. With Gloucester nursing a 9-6 lead in the seventh, Bridgett Motley tripled and was driven in by Macy Robbins with a double. Shackelford walked and Arnett doubled to drive in Robbins and Shackelford to make it 12-6.
