Lady Dukes clinch title

The Gloucester High School varsity field hockey team clinched the Conference 10 regular season championship last Thursday with a 3-0 win at Nansemond River. 

Gloucester is hosting the Conference 10 Tournament this week and was set to face Warwick at 5 p.m. yesterday. The Raiders got by Kecoughtan, 1-0, on Tuesday.

Also set to play last night were Nansemond River and Menchville at 7 o’clock. The Warriors beat Hampton, 10-0, and Menchville beat Bethel, 13-0, both in the opening rounds Tuesday. The championship game is set for 5 p.m. today at GHS.

After a scoreless first half against Nansemond River last week, the Dukes got going with three goals in about three minutes. Cheyenne Hollandsworth scored twice, once on a breakaway and once assisted by Kessa Romero. Karly Harwood also found the cage on a breakaway.
