Lady Dukes beat Woodside, 2-1

The Gloucester High School varsity girls pulled out a 2-1 soccer win at Woodside on Friday for the Lady Dukes’ fifth victory of the season. 

The Wolverines scored the first goal of the game on a free kick. Gloucester had several scoring opportunities, with forward Kessa Romero and midfielder Tori Johnson working through the Woodside defense for a shot on goal which the keeper was able to save. 

In the second half, the Dukes maintained possession much better and notched a pair of goals. The first was from Brittnee Hardee who followed a shot by Brooke Cheatham. Cheatham’s ball was punched out by the keeper but center fielder Hardee was ready for the rebound and tied the game at 1-1.  Cheatham scored the winning goal later after dribbling laterally across the Woodside defense and shooting just over the Woodside keeper from outside the 18’.
