Lady Dukes advance to state semifinals

Gloucester High School field hockey players advanced to the VHSL Class 5 State Tournament semifinals Monday with a 4-0 win over Atlee at Atlee High School in Hanover.

The Dukes are scheduled to take on Mountain View in the semifinal at 9:30 a.m. Friday at South County High School in Fairfax. The state final will be played at 10 a.m. Saturday, also at South County.

Meg Teagle had two goals in the win, one in the first half assisted by Cara O’Beirne and on a corner in the second half. H.P. Johnson had a first half goal, assisted by O’Beirne, and Allison Goodwin scored in the second half, assisted by Johnson.
