The Mathews High School varsity volleyball team easily defeated Lancaster Thursday and King William Tuesday, winning each game in three straight sets.
Mathews hosted Lancaster, winning by 25-14, 25-11 and 25-15. Every Blue Devil saw playing time.
Stat leaders included Rachel Close (one ace and five digs), Kacie Austin (four aces, three kills, three digs), Mackenzie Moughon (one ace, two kills, seven digs), Casey Parrish (eight kills, seven digs), Maddie McCann (one ace, nine kills, six digs), Teeny Robbins (two kills, two aces, five digs), Kacie Austin (four aces, three kills, three digs), and Lindsey Crigler (one ace, 22 assists).
Mathews traveled to King William for the team’s first Tidewater District game. The match moved quickly, with the Devils gaining victory in straight sets by scores of 25-10, 25-15 and 25-6.
