Lady Devils stay unbeaten in conference play

The Mathews High School varsity volleyball team remains undefeated in conference play after gaining wins over West Point and Middlesex this week. The MHS Lady Devils also added a non-conference win over Gloucester. They are now 17-2 overall and 7-0 in Conference 42.

Mathews hosted West Point last Thursday, winning the match in straight sets by scores of 25-11, 25-16 and 25-12. Standouts for the Devils included Belle Massimino with two kills, five digs, and five aces, Anne Stewart with six kills, two solo blocks, and a block assist, Brittany Mitchem with five kills, three digs, and a solo block, Mariah Robinson with five kills and three digs, and Madison South with two kills, seven digs, and 19 assists.

On Monday, MHS traveled to Gloucester for their annual Dig Pink night. Mathews defeated the host Dukes in straight sets, 25-22, 25-12 and 25-18. Leading the Devils in kills was Stewart with eight, followed by Mitchem with six, South, Keely Crittenden and Robinson with three each, Massi...
