Lady Devils improve to 20-0 in volleyball

The Mathews High School varsity volleyball team picked up three more victories during the past week over King William, Windsor and King and Queen, to increase the team’s record to 20-0. The Blue Devils switched to pink in Monday night’s game against Windsor, raising money and awareness about breast cancer.

Last Thursday, Mathews traveled to King William to defeat the Cavaliers in three straight sets, by scores of 25-19, 25-7 and 25-11.

Rachel Close led the team with three aces and 13 digs. Kacie Austin had one ace, one assist, two kills and a dig. Teeny Robbins had one ace, two kills and three digs. Amber Burruss had seven assists and a dig.

Mackenzie Moughon had 10 kills, one assist, four digs and one solo block. Shelby Ware had 17 assists, two kills, two digs and one solo block. Hailey Abernathy had one kill and six digs.
