Lady Devils get revenge on Lady Dukes

After a disappointing loss to Gloucester High’s Lady Dukes last week, Mathews High School’s Lady Devils looked forward to Monday night’s rematch on their home court. Their confidence carried them to a 50-38 win.

Taking a 17-9 lead into the second half, MHS faced a struggle against a full court press from the Lady Dukes, who fought back for a one-point lead. Mathews finally broke the press, regained the lead and held on for the win.

 

Scoring for Gloucester were Kenna Keyes (11 points), Amani Fields (six points), Hannah Beth Hogge (six points), Kaylynn Glockner (five points), Maria Lisi and Zebe Rhodes (two points each). Fields, Glockner and Hogge each had a three-pointer.

Scoring for Mathews were Ellie Armistead (27 points), Hannah Robins (seven points), Yolanda Fells (six points), Stacie Thomas (six points) and Abigail Hudgins (four points). Armistead hit three three-pointers while Thomas had two.
