Lady Devils get ready for volleyball season

Despite just finishing Mathews High School’s first ever spring (because of COVID-19) volleyball season, the Lady Devils are ready to bring it on for this coming fall season.

With a varsity team of 13 players, and a JV squad also of 13 players, all the athletes are ready to get their heads in the game and their feet on the court.

Varsity coach Pat Moughon and manager Bret Clarke are putting in lots of heart towards this season. With the retirement of Beth Soles, the JV team has a new coach, Helen Morris, who said she is looking forward to her first season leading the JV Devils.

The varsity/JV teams have their first scrimmage on the road against the New Kent Trojans on Wednesday, Aug. 18. This Saturday, the varsity team will host its annual Jamboree, starting at 9 a.m.
