Lady Devils finish second in state, topping Rye Cove to reach final

The Mathews High School volleyball team made it all the way to Saturday’s Group A, Division 1 championship game at VCU, before falling to the Nelson County Governors, 3-1.

Senior Casey Parrish had a great match with 13 kills, three block assists, one solo block, one ace and 11 digs. She also had a serve-receive rating of 2.5 out of a possible 3.

Senior Lindsay Crigler had one kill, one block assist, two aces, 33 assists, and had six digs. Sophomore Maddie McCann had six kills, one block assist, one solo block, three aces, 20 digs and a serve-receive rating of 2.6.
