Lady Devils fall in regional tournament

The Mathews High School volleyball season came to an end on Monday night in the Class 1 Region A quarterfinals at Northumberland High School, falling to the Indians two three sets to two.

Mathews won its two sets, 25-13 and 25-20, with the Indians taking 25-19, 25-20 and 25-13 wins. 

Offensively, the Lady Devils had many kills throughout the game. Joice Small had the most with 15 followed by Jordan Hunley with seven, Jada Ashberry and Aleya McCurry each with four, Connie Johnson with two, and Kristen Frank, Meghan Pruitt, Emily West and Olivia Ashbaugh each with one.

Defensively, Kristen Frank had the most digs with 34. Other digs included Johnson with 28, West with 23, McCurry with 18, Belle Frank with eight, Hudgins with five, Ashbaugh with four, Hunley with three, Ashberry with two, and Pruitt with one. McCurry had the most assists with 27. Other assists included K. Frank with three, and B. Frank, Johnson, Small and Ashbaugh each with one. K. Frank, Ashberry and Johnson each...
