Lady Devils defeat Cavs, Tigers

The Mathews High School varsity girls’ basketball team went 2-1 in recent action, defeating King William and King and Queen, and falling to Jamestown on Friday in the Lady Devils’ Senior Night contest.
Last Thursday, the MHS girls won a close game on the road against the Cavaliers, 33-30. Hallie Duncan led the Devils in scoring with 12 points, followed by Kai McCann (six points), Hunter Thomas (four), Taylor South (four), Harley Haydon (three), Maria Spadaccini (two), Madison Owens (one) and Mariah Robinson (one).
The following night, the MHS girls struggled on their home court against Jamestown, falling 52-43. McCann was the top scorer for Mathews with 12 points. Duncan and South chipped in seven points each. Thomas (six points), Spadaccini (five), Owens (four), Haydon (three) and Robinson (two) also contributed to the final score.
