Lady Devils continue hot streak

After constantly preaching team defense, including boxing out and constant moving, Mathews High School girls’ varsity basketball coach Allie Bridge turned her offense loose last Wednesday against the hosts from Essex.

Mathews received a total team effort on both ends of the ball with guards hitting shots from the outside while forwards and centers crashed the boards for easy put-backs. The Devils outpaced the Trojans, 35-10, in the first half, on the way to a 61-31 victory.

Kaitlin Eriksen led the scoring effort with 20 points followed by Mackenzie Moughon with nine and Samera Thomas with eight points. Emily Brown added six points while Lindsey Brown contributed five points and Megan Zeller added four. Rounding out the scoring were Sydney Morgan with three points and Jessi Nelson, Hannah Rowe and Taylor Denton with two points each.
