Lady Devils complete unbeaten season; head into playoffs

A packed crowd at the Mathews High School gym got the chance to see the Lady Devils varsity volleyball team complete an unbeaten regular season Monday night, surviving a tough battle against Tidewater District rival Middlesex, winning three sets to one.

Part of the reason for the packed house was for family and friends to celebrate Senior Night, as the school paid tribute to players Victoria Bing, Nicole Brown, Sarah Brown, Caroline Crittenden, Mia Gillenwater, Madisyn Jackson and Shayla Wheeler and scorekeeper Ashley Foster, who are all set to graduate in the spring.

Before the Senior Night celebration, the junior varsity girls completed the first half of a varsity/JV sweep, defeating the JV Lady Chargers, 2-1.
