Lady Devils a perfect 8-0 in conference play

The Mathews High School varsity volleyball team improved to 8-0 in Conference 42 play with wins over West Point and Middlesex this past week. The Devils are now 17-3-1 overall.

Last Thursday, Mathews traveled to West Point where the Devils won in straight sets, 25-23, 25-11 and 25-13. Hallie Duncan led the Devils in kills on the night with six followed by Madisyn Jackson with five, Victoria Bing with four, Anne Stewart with three, Caroline Crittenden with two, and Tori Hicks and Madison South with one each. South also had 15 assists and served two aces while Stewart had five solo blocks. Keely Crittenden led in digs with 13, followed by Josey Bauby with nine, Bing with six, C. Crittenden with five, and Mia Gillenwater, Duncan and South with four each.

Mathews hosted the Middlesex Chargers on Tuesday for the Lady Devils’ Senior Night match. The Devils honored their five seniors—Bauby, K. Crittenden, Duncan, Emily Sorey and South—before the game began.
