Ladies’ tea

The Catholic community of the Church of Francis de Sales, Mathews, hosted the third annual Ladies’ Tea Luncheon on Saturday, April 15. More than 70 attendees were present for a talk given by Kim Forslund from “Ladies Victorian and Beyond—Costumes and Customs of an Earlier America” (below). Her presentation included the history of tea in America as well as a detailed list of etiquette regarding proper manners and tea drinking technique. A menu prepared by the women of the parish included tea sandwiches, scones and desserts, served by the men of Francis de Sales. Shown above enjoying the tea are, from left, Norah Iverson, Alexa Beebe, Tina Darby and Patti Sarosy.
