Get those family recipes out and plan to bake your entry in the May Faire Pound Cake Contest. On Saturday, May 6, the day of the event, entries will be accepted from 9 to 10 a.m. at the historic courthouse on Mathews Court Green. Judging begins at 11 a.m.

The contest is open to adults and children, female or male. Any style cake considered to be a pound cake is acceptable. 

Entrants are asked to attach a recipe with the cake including name, address and phone number.

Cakes will be judged on taste/flavor, appearance, consistency (size and shape), moistness and crumb, and creativity.

The first-place winner will be the recipient of a gift basket filled with baking items and accessories.
