Kristi’s Kuts opened recently in the old Foster Building just south of Rappahannock Concrete on Route 17, White Marsh.

Owner Kristi L. Torrey of Gloucester operates the shop by herself, offering an assortment of services for men, women and children.

She offers haircuts, perms, color, waxing, and gel polish manicures. She also sells a selection of hair care products.

Torrey said she has seen many changes in her 35 years in the hair care business. “You don’t see a lot of shampoo and sets now,” she said. Another change has been in hair color, which she said has expanded to include more customers seeking both natural and more vibrant colors. 

Torrey previously owned her own salon for nine years and also worked at several other Gloucester salons. Also, she worked five years for a medical hospice company.
