Knights face Gators in youth football

The Gloucester Youth Football and Cheer League Knights played the Portsmouth Gators over the weekend.

The 8U Knights fell to the Gators, 39-0. Outstanding players for the Knights were Carson Robbins, Tristan Riley and Sam Wallis. For cheer, Shonna Banks was named the most spirited and Sadie Rhoads had the best technique.

The 10U Knights lost to the Gators, 40-0. Chase Robbins led in carries for the Knights with five for 37 yards. Kaleb McArthur led the team in tackles with three. Aniyah Cook was named most spirited for cheer and Harper Arntz had the best technique.

The 14U Knights fell to the Gators, 13-7. Gary Pierce made the sole touchdown for the Knights and Tyrell Daisy scored the extra point and also recorded an interception. Jacob Lewis and Camden Johnson both recorded five tackles each, followed by Xavier Broughman with four and Daisy with two.

The 12U Knights played the Isle of Wight Wild Pack, defeating the team, 39-6. Rylee Hogge started the match with a 55-yard reception pitch from J.J. Koch. Anthony Hodges recorded two touchdowns for 80 yards, Jay Stokes had one touchdown for 50 rushing yards, and Hogge also scored a touchdown. Isaac White had two receptions for an extra point and Leo Collier had four carries for 20 yards and scored an extra point. On defense, Grayson Santana had a 30-yard scoop, Rosile Thomas recorded a fumble recovery and multiple tackles, and Declan Hoar had two tackles.

Flag football

The 6U Flag Football Knights fell to the Gators, 24-12. Ethan Robbins scored two touchdowns for the Knights and recorded 100 rushing yards. Kylie Jurgensen had 25 rushing yards and Quarterback Ellianna Howard recorded six yards. Easton Jackson also contributed offensively. Robbins pulled five flags, while Jurgensen pulled her first flag of the season.

The 14U Lady Knights flag football team defeated Powerhouse, 34-13, over the weekend. Lillie Green, Jemma Washington, Amaylah Smith and Braelyn Owens all scored touchdowns. Ava Rice returned an interception for a touchdown. Washington and Smith each added two one-point conversions to help secure the win.
