Klingel documentary wins Grand Prize Award

A documentary about the late Gilbert Klingel, a Gwynn’s Island resident who was an internationally-known naturalist, explorer, boat builder, metallurgist, author and all-around Renaissance man, recently received the Grand Prize Award and top honors in the RVA Richmond Environmental Film Festival.

“The Legacy of Gilbert Klingel: Man of Steel” will be screened as part of the festival at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, at the Byrd Theatre, 2908 W .Cary Street, Richmond. Admission is free and tickets are not required.

The film was directed by Dave Miller of Miller Productions of Virginia, located in Aylett. It was written and co-produced by Miller and Klingel’s daughter, Marcy Benouameur of Onemo, and co-produced by Tom Robinson of Moon.
