The Ware River Circle of The King’s Daughters and Sons is celebrating its 34th annual Christmas Open House, “A Colraine Christmas Celebration,” at beautiful, historic Colraine on Tuesday, Dec. 12. The WRCKDS Christmas Open House fundraiser has become known as an event that ushers in the season in festive and celebratory style. It is the circle’s primary fundraising event of the year with proceeds of the event benefiting the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters and local WRCKDS charities.
Colraine is a 28-acre, stately, historic waterfront home in Gloucester with ancient trees, lovely gardens, and panoramic views of Wilson Creek, a release stated. “As you enter the elegant tree-lined lane, it is easy to see why a Pennsylvania Railroad executive chose this site to build a home for his bride-to-be in the latter part of the 19th century,” the release stated. The manor house, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Hatten, is surrounded on three sides by water.
“A Colraine Christmas Celebration” will include refreshments of an hors d’oeuvres buffet with Christmas punch libation, prepared by WRCKDS members. Christmas floral designs, by Circle members, will be displayed throughout the home. Live music will set the festive mood for the last two sessions. Tickets, at $35, are available at the Silver Box in Gloucester Court House and Hallmark at Gloucester Point. Christmas Open House sessions are: noon-1 p.m., 1:30-2:30 p.m., 3-4 p.m. and 4:30-5 p.m.
