The annual Kids Free Fishing Day was held Saturday at Beaverdam Reservoir in Gloucester. Sponsored by the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources, the program was an opportunity for young ones to cast a line and maybe even catch the big one. The Abingdon Ruritan Club, led by public service committee chair Raven Cash, lent a helping hand, cooking and serving 120 hot dogs, along with cookies and chips for the 50 children, their families and all the volunteers.
