Mathews Outdoor Club will be holding the second Coastal Virginia Kickball Tournament on Saturday, May 13, this time on the Mathews County Little League fields at the Piankatank Ruritan Club grounds in Hudgins.
“I think it’s going to be big,” said Christine Johnson, president of MOC.
“We know how to do tournaments,” said Ricky Wiatt, president of Mathews Little League.
MOC held its first kickball tournament last year at Port Fun Park with six teams participating.
This year’s tournament will be held at the Little League fields with concessions, including crab cakes, locally-made barbecue and adult beverages, available for purchase. The first games will begin in the afternoon after the completion of the Little League games.
The kickball teams will be expected to be at the fields at 1 p.m. the day of the tournament to sign waivers and take team photos. The tournament will be double elimination and all teams will be guaranteed to play at least two games.
