Hayes resident Kevin Smith, 60, is seeking re-election as an independent candidate for the at-large seat he currently holds on the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors. He is opposed in the Nov. 2 election by Republican candidate Teresa Altemus.
Smith, who has previously served three terms on the Gloucester School Board and is currently serving his first term on the Gloucester Board of Supervisors, seeks to return to his seat because he said he feels there is still much work to be done for the citizens of Gloucester County.
He said he intends to continue to support fully funded Gloucester and Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue squads, as well as the Gloucester Sheriff’s Office. He wants the professional and support staff of both the county and schools to continue to receive an appropriate pay scale.
