Kevin Bland Brown of Dutton, died Feb. 15, 2016 at Sentara Norfolk General

Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Kevin was born May 23, 1954 to Sunie V. and Everett G. Brown, who predeceased him.

Kevin lived his early life on Gwynn’s Island and went to Mathews High

School, graduating in 1972. He was also a graduate of the apprentice school at Newport News Shipbuilding, and retired after 39 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and a devoted husband, father, and brother.

He is survived by the love of his life, wife Beth Francis Brown; sons, Nathan (Katie), Justin and Jacob. He also has a wonderful family: sisters, Kitty

Crockett, Kathryn Diggs, Sharon Sutton (Chuck), and a brother, Everett Brown (Pat). Other survivors include his grandchildren, Cheyanne, Chloe and Rylan Brown, along with many nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, with visitation from 11 a.m. until funeral starting  at 12. Burial was at Gwynn’s Island Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 11835 Canon Blvd., Suite A102, Newport News, Va. 23606.

Revelation 21:4, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning, crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
