Kenneth Wayne Denny, age 61, of Hayes, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on September 16, 2026, with his loving wife by his side. Wayne recently retired from NASA, where he worked as an Engineering Technician. He was a proud American who loved his country deeply and was often found cheering on the Atlanta Braves and the Washington Redskins.

Wayne was a thoughtful man who took pride in everything he did. He also had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to crack jokes, bringing laughter to those around him. Wayne loved his wife Sheryl deeply and made sure she always knew just how much she meant to him. Their love was filled with laughter, surprises, and the little moments that made their life together uniquely theirs. Above all else, Wayne loved his two boys more than life itself. His family was at the heart of everything he did, and he took great pride in the people they had become. Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved parents, James Alfred Denny and Polly Brown Day. He is survived by his loving wife, Sheryl Denny; his sons, James Denny (Christina) and Jackson Denny; his stepson, Chris Grammer (Morgan); his stepdaughter, Morgan Gresham (Dylan); and his grandchildren, Easton, Alexander, Charlie, and Emma Grace. He is also survived by his sisters, Sandy (Mike), Pat (Lee), Jan (John), and Sheri (Kelvin), as well as many nieces and nephews. Along with family, he is survived by his lifelong friend, Jim Jackson. Wayne will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His love for his family, his sense of humor, his thoughtful heart, and the memories he created with those closest to him will remain with them always.
