KENNETH H. HOCKADAY

Kenneth H. Hockaday, 70, of Gloucester, Va., died surrounded by family and friends Aug. 11, 2015.

He was born 1944 in Fredericksburg, Va., and graduated from Spotsylvania High School. Kenneth served from 1964-1968 in the Air Force and in Vietnam. He was employed with C&P Telephone, AT&T and Lucent Technologies for 31 years, retiring in 2000. Kenneth enjoyed watching sports, especially NASCAR and the Redskins. He could do anything and fix everything.

Kenneth loved his grandchildren with all his heart and enjoyed attending their sporting events, award ceremonies, birthday celebrations, holidays and family trips. He was team owner and head crew chief for go-kart racing with the grandkids at Langley Speedway.

He always greeted you with a smile and had a whimsical sense of humor, prevalent in all occasions, good or bad. Kenneth was a deeply loving, devoted and complete family man. Kenneth was a loyal friend to many and will be missed dearly by all that knew him. 

He was preceded in death by parents, Tasker and Lucille Hockaday, and father-in-law, Ollie Ramey.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jeanne Hockaday; son, Rodney Hockaday; daughter, Rhonda Morris (Paul); grandchildren, Kylee Hockaday, Jacob Hockaday, Zane Morris and Spencer Morris; sister, Bonnie Simms (Ray), and many close friends.

The family received friends Friday, Aug. 14, 2015 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Funeral service conducted by the Revs. Calvin Griffin and David Satterwhite was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at Singleton United Methodist Church, 5869 Ware Neck Road, Gloucester.  

A very special thank you to Dr. Kruger, nurses and staff at Virginia Oncology Associates and Helen and Brenda with Intrepid Hospice for their wonderful care.
