Kayla Robins wins All-American status

 

Even though the season is at an end, the accolades keep rolling in for Chowan University softball star Kayla Robins.

The Mathews High School graduate received third team All-American status for the 2017 season, the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association announced on May 24.

Robins was selected for the All-American honor after a stellar senior season pitching for the Hawks. In 2017, she posed a 24-10 overall record in the circle with a program-best 0.95 ERA. The Mathews native tossed 213.1 innings with 31 complete games, 16 shutouts and 367 strikeouts.

Robins’ 0.95 ERA ranks third in the NCAA Division II this season, along with her 367 strikeouts (third), shutouts (tie for first), and leads the nation in strikeouts per seven innings with a 12.0 clip.

Kayla contributed at the plate as well hitting .253 in 83 at-bats with two home runs and 15 RBIs. She also earned NFCA All-Atlantic Region second-team honors.
