Kayakers to carol on Put-In Creek Saturday

Mobjack Kayaking brings back an old tradition, “Caroling on the Creek,” on Saturday. Participants will meet at Town Point Landing, then paddle their lighted kayaks up Put-In Creek between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m.

The carol singing on the creek returns after an interval of several years. About 25 years ago a group of residents began to travel the creek in a powerboat, singing and caroling; they were followed by Shawn and Jan Towne who operated a kayak business at Onemo for a number of years.

Creek residents lighted up their shorelines and joined in the singing as the kayakers drew close. Now, after a break, the custom returns.

“If you live on the creek please come down to the water’s edge and join our caroling fun,” said Mobjack Kayaking spokesperson Dianne Campbell. She said in case of rain or if temperatures dip below freezing, the event will not be held. ...
