KATHLEEN MAGEE MATTOX

Kathleen Magee Mattox, 82, of Gloucester Point, died May 1, 2015 at home from complications of chronic kidney disease.

Kathleen was born Jan. 21, 1933 to the late Hugh and Isabella U. Magee. A native of Hampton, she moved to Gloucester County in 1973. After more than 30 years in accounting and finance she retired from civil service. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, the Lacey Martin Fellowship Sunday School Class, the Naomi Circle and United Methodist Women. Kathleen was past president of the Rebekah Assembly of Virginia, member of the Abingdon Woman’s Club and member of the York River Circle of The King’s Daughters and Sons.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marshall M. Mattox Jr.; son, Andreas H. Ligon; brothers, Hugh Magee and wife Helen, and Robert T. Magee and wife Marlene, and her beloved pet Yorkie, Scooter.

She is survived by daughters, Marsha K. Germek (Jim) and Isabella A. Wheat (Doug); sons, Marshall M. Mattox III (Rebecca) and Thomas H. Ligon; daughter-in-law, V. Elaine Ligon; grandchildren, Jason R. Harney (Kim), Alliyson D. Alligood (Richard), Chrystal Ligon, Matthew Ligon (Sarah), Sean Ligon, Heather Ligon, Melissa J. Ligon, John M. Ligon, Nicholas Ligon, S. Tyler Mattox (Chelsea), David M. Mattox, William S. Mattox, John W. Mattox, Tiffany M. Bush (Jay), Krestina L. Petrauskis (B.K.), Seth Wheat, Jeremiah Wheat, Courtney “Nikki” Wheat and Heather McDevitt (Mike); great-grandchildren, Rhiannon, Jason Jr., Logan, Collen, Abigail, Alyssa, Alexander, Jaxon (not yet born), Barry, Gavin, Lauren, Ella, Mattilyn, Mattox, Shane, Natalie, Jamie and Alexander; brother, Frederick C. Magee (Loretta); special nephew in Ireland, David Magee (Anne), and their children, David Jr., Anne and Robert; very special friends, James Tyler Eyre (Sarah) and William Daniel Eyre (Howard Brent); and a host of other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and many close friends.

Funeral service officiated by the Rev. Deborah T. Marion will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Bethany United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends Wednesday, May 6, 2015, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
