KATHERINE A. CARMINE

Katherine A. Carmine peacefully passed away Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at Heron Cove Health Care Center of Gloucester at the age of 84.

Katherine was a native of Gloucester and was born May 21, 1930 to Frank P. and Katherine Ashe. She graduated from Achilles High School and attended Mary Washington College. Katherine was a dedicated member and treasurer of Gloucester Point Baptist Church, where she was also active in the Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU). She was an involved member of the Abingdon Woman’s Club and was an officer and member of the Parent Teachers Association (PTA).

Katherine was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed needlework. She was an avid gardener and reader, and enjoyed playing Bridge. 

Katherine was very social, had a great sense of humor and loved telling stories. She contributed much laughter, love and support to her family and friends, and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Walden D. Carmine Sr., and by her son, Robert Carmine, and her brother, George P. Ashe.

She is survived by her children, Walden Carmine Jr., Jerry Carmine and his wife Janice, Penny Reynolds, Betsy Berger and her husband Robb, John Carmine and Steve Carmine, and six grandchildren, Ashley Reynolds, Jillian Carmine, Lauren Berger, Kristen Berger, Matthew Carmine and Sam Carmine.

Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Ray P. Goude Sr. will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at Gloucester Point Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Garden Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 26, 2014, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
