KAREN KAY ADAIR

6/11/1953–5/10/2026

Karen Adair of Gloucester, was received into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 10, 2026. Her life was one marked with signposts of her faith–her love for her Lord and her family, her passion for prayer and ministry to children. She served in so many roles throughout her life–daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and through them all, her quiet strength and peaceful spirit was always evident. She had a creative talent, from baking beautiful cakes to working with her sewing machine to make a costume for a grandchild or sew together wash cloths for the needy.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Helen Mae Craddock; her son-in-law, William McCarty, and her grandson, Caleb McTurnal. She is survived by her husband, Joe Adair; her children, Amanda McCarty, Robert McTurnal (Christa), Christi Bodkin (Chad), Brian McTurnal (Amy), Laurie Moore (Ryan), Matthew Adair (Kirstan), Stephanie Adair, as well as 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be on Sunday, May 17 at 2 p.m. at BridgePoint Church in Gloucester, Va. The Celebration of Life will follow at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Adam Long serving as the officiant. If you are considering attending the services, we ask that attendees consider wearing bright spring/pastel colors as a tribute to Karen. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a monetary contribution in her name to two charities that were dear to Karen: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Tunnels to Towers.
