Kale recognized as Outstanding Pharmacist

Kelly Hasty Kale, formerly of Gloucester, has been named Virginia’s Outstanding Pharmacist for 2024 by the Virginia Pharmacy Association.

Kale is the daughter of Patricia K. Hasty and the late John W. Hasty, a longtime Gloucester pharmacist, who for more than 25 years operated Plaza Pharmacy in Hayes. Kale’s win along with her father’s outstanding pharmacist award in 1995 makes them the only parent-and-child combination in the association’s 143-year history.

She still has family living in Gloucester.

Her nomination letter read in part: “Kelly’s long-standing and remarkable career has been punctuated by many highlights—but also by its consistency of excellence.” She joined the VPhA in 1985 and was president in 1994-1995. She served for a decade as president of the VPhA Research and Education Foundation.

A graduate in pharmacy from the Medical College of Virginia (now VCU Health, for the past 37 years she has been the owner/pharmacist of Olde Towne Pharmacy in Williamsburg. ...
