JV Lady Dukes win, 13-0

Gloucester High School junior varsity field hockey players beat the visiting Woodside Wolverines, 13-0, Tuesday, with seven different Dukes scoring to open the 2019 season.

Sophomore Bailey Andersen had a hat trick for the junior Dukes, and two goals each came from freshmen Ainslee Brown and Alexis Cruz, sophomore Lily Perger and eighth grader Kamryn McDonough. Sophomore Alanna Womack and eighth grader Hannah Williams also scored.

Scoring assists were provided Abby Brown, Chrissy Masiak, Kailee Morris, Heaven Remski, Hannah Rippel and MacKenzie Wheeler.

“It was a complete team effort out of the gate,” said GHS JV coach Joe Dougherty. The Gloucester offense fired off 37 shots on goal and earned 15 penalty corners. The defense was anchored by Leigha Germain, Aura Griggs, Rilee Walker and Mason Welsh with keeper Kareena Ferguson in goal.

All 24 players on the GHS roster got some time on the field and the game was cut short by the mercy rule midway through the second half. ...
