JV Lady Dukes shut out Northumberland, 10-0

The Gloucester High School junior varsity field hockey team defeated Northumberland, 10-0, last Thursday at GHS, with nine different players scoring against the Indians. Hannah Hamay led the scoring spree with two goals and Ainsley Miller, Christina Riva, Alyssa O’Beirne and Tally Vaughan had goals.

Scoring their first goals of the season were Maggie Ronan, Anna Owens, Kate Neikirk and Rachel Lawrence. The Dukes outshot the Indians, 31-0, and were awarded 20 penalty corners.

The junior Dukes also won, 6-0, over Lafayette at the College of William and Mary on Saturday in another game shortened by the mercy rule. The scoring was spread around with Brooke Billhimer, Ella Poulson, Cara O’Beirne, A. O’Beirne, Hamay and Riva getting goals. Coach Joe Dougherty said his players exhibited a total team effort in earning 12 penalty corners and firing off 32 shots at the Lafayette goal. The junior Dukes are 7-0 with over 200 shots on goal for the season, over 70 penalty corners...
