JV Lady Devils defeat Cavaliers, Pointers

The Mathews High School junior varsity volleyball team kept its unbeaten streak alive this week with wins over King William and West Point. The girls were put to the test last Thursday as the Cavaliers won the first set—the first the MHS JV girls have lost all year. They came back to win the next two and take the game.

On Tuesday night, the JV girls easily defeated West Point, 25-9 and 25-17.

The 5-0 JV Lady Devils will host Middlesex tonight, beginning at 5:30. Then the team will be off until Sept. 30, when MHS hosts Washington and Lee.

West Point

MHS took to the road on Tuesday to face the Pointers. The Lady Devils performed a well-rounded game with a strong offense and defense.

Starting out each point, the JV Lady Devils had strong and consistent serves. Morgan Crittenden provided the team with 25 serves, including four aces. Olivia Coons followed with six successful serves with two aces.
