JV Lady Devils beat Raiders, 2-0

The Mathews High School junior varsity volleyball team defeated Rappahannock on Monday night, the second time the JV Lady Devils beat the Raiders this season.

The Lady Devils took a little time adjusting to the competition, but they soon took the lead, winning both sets by a pair of 25-18 margins.

Shortly into the first set, Aly Jackson earned the team eight points on a serving run. The Lady Devils put up a great fight with their serves. Overall they served 49 balls, including 12 aces, and only four errors.

Jackson led the team in serving with a total of 18 serves, with four aces. Jasmine Ashberry followed with eight serves and three aces, and then Morgan Crittenden with eight serves and two aces. 

The JV Lady Devils also showed a strong offense Monday night with Crittenden and Taylor Wood each bringing in three kills.
