JV girls also piling up shutout wins

The Gloucester High School junior varsity field hockey team added four more shutouts to its record in recent play.The team blanked their hosts in New Kent with eight goals scored by Peyton Sutton, Payton Maples, Hannah Symonds, Emma Kadel, Jazzy Whiting and Chloe West with Kaylee Hall scoring twice. Alexis Lester gave the MVP awards for this game to goalies AmraRose Powell and Madison Walters.

The Gloucester juniors won both of their games in a season tournament on Saturday at Varina High School, with the first being a 10-0 victory over Matoaca. Maddy Kadel and Symonds each scored twice and goals game from Kendall Lands, Mary-Ashton VanFossen, Ellary Miller, Whiting, Hall and Sutton.

Scoring assists in the win were provided by Abigail Junker, Kendall Lands, Hailey Pena-Hawk, VanFossen, West and M. Kadel.

The junior Dukes then beat New Kent, 9-0, to give them first place in the tournament. Lands had a hat trick in the win, Hall and West scored twice and a goal came from Whitin...
