JV football team improves to 4-3

The Gloucester High School junior varsity football team shut out home-standing Menchville, 29-0, on Monday. The win puts the junior Dukes at 4-3 with two games remaining.

Offensive linemen Gavin McTavish, Mike Lawson, Michael Greene, Julian Hogge and Douglas Pruim dominated the line of scrimmage and controlled the game. 

Austin Glockner led scoring with two touchdown runs and Malakyi Cooke sealed the win with a long TD run in the second half. 

On defense, Josh Kuehn returned a fumble recovery for a touchdown and added two touchdown-saving tackles. Adam Eckstein led the defense with 12 tackles, Glockner had a tackle in the end zone for a safety, Destin Forrest added a fumble recovery and Cooke had a drive-killing interception. 

On special teams, kicker Thomas Reinshagen was good on three of his four extra point attempts. The Gloucester jayvees host Phoebus at 6 p.m. Monday.  ...
