JV field hockey opens season with 10-0 shutout win

The Gloucester High School junior varsity field hockey team opened the season with a 10-goal shutout over Atlee High on Aug. 22 at the Williamsburg Indoor Sports Complex. The game was cut short by the mercy rule after only 37 minutes.

Eighth grader Channy Johnson led the Dukes’ offense with four goals, Madison Gross scored twice and goals came from Lily Perger, Ella Poulson, Jordan Scott and Ainslee Brown.

Alexis Adams had for assists, Mackenzie Wheeler and Perger had two each and assists were contributed by Abygail Clayton, Christina Riva, Madison Johnston, C. Johnson, Gross, Poulson and Scott. 

Gloucester spread the ball around and controlled most of the possession, and never allowed Atlee to have possession of the ball in the Dukes’ circle. ...
