JV field hockey crushes Patriots to improve to 11-0

The Gloucester High School junior varsity field hockey team cruised to a 21-0 victory over the overmatched Denbigh Patriots at GHS on Tuesday, improving the team record to 11-0.

Both teams played a reduced lineup of seven versus seven due to the number of players Denbigh had available. Reducing their numbers did not slow down the Dukes, who had 14 players involved in the scoring.

Players with two goals each included Channy Johnson, Alexis Adams, Madison Gross, Jordan Scott, Ella Poulson, Avery Smith, Meadow Spears and Alanna Womack. Madison Johnston and goalkeeper Kareena Ferguson also scored their first goals of the season. 

The junior Dukes have scored 115 goals this season while not even allowing a shot on their own cage. Coach Joe Dougherty said there are still other goals that the team hopes to achieve this season.
