JV field hockey beats Menchville

The Gloucester High School junior varsity Dukes rolled to their third straight victory Tuesday with a 4-0 win over visiting Menchville. 

Gloucester outshot the Monarchs 15-1 and earned eight penalty corners while not allowing any for the visitors. The Dukes controlled the momentum of the game out of the gate. 

Abygail Clayton started scoring with her first goal of the year in the first half. She added a second goal in the second half. Clayton received scoring assists from Lily Perger and Alexis Cruz.

Chrissy Masiak got her first goal of the season, assisted by eighth grader Kiley Parker. Eighth grader Kamryn McDonough added her team-leading fourth goal of the young season to close out scoring. 

Gloucester JV coach Joe Dougherty said his defense was stellar, with eighth grader Avery Watkins and freshman Mackenzie Wheeler spearheading the effort. Kareena Ferguson also made her first save in goal to help protect the Dukes’ three-game shut-out record.
