JV Dukes win field hockey opener

The Gloucester Dukes JV field hockey team kicked off its shortened season with a 2-0 win over the York High Falcons on Monday. Both of Gloucester’s scores were made by sophomore Ainslee Brown.

Coach Joe Dougherty said that the team showed a strong defensive effort by only allowing the opposing team to take the ball to their circle twice and limiting other scoring opportunities. The team will look to build on its hot start when it faces the Poquoson Islanders on Tuesday.
