JV Devils split pair of district games; with three more games, season ends Tuesday

The Mathews High School junior varsity baseball team traveled to King William on Wednesday, May 1, falling to the Cavaliers, 4-2.

Dawson Adams started on the mound for Mathews, going four innings and allowing only one run. The Blue Devils were able to score two runs in support, with Richie Hogge, Dawson Adams, Will Jackson and Brady Wright leading the way, but the Cavaliers’ bats came back with three runs.

On Thursday, May 2, Mathews hosted King and Queen. Mathews exploded on offense, beating the Tigers, 15-1. The pitching duo of Daniel Moughon and Ethan Hudgins held the visitors to a single run.

The MHS JV team was scheduled to host the Essex Trojans last night and will host West Point tonight, starting at 5. The JV Devils (6-6) will end its season on Tuesday against Middlesex. ...
