JV Devils fall to 1-2

The Mathews High School JV football team fell to 1-2 on the season following last Wednesday’s loss to the visiting Windsor Dukes, 38-6.

Mathews trailed at halftime, 8-6, with Aidan West scoring for the Devils on their opening drive. West gained 145 yards on 19 carries, while Keith Taylor picked up 24 yards on three carries. Leading tacklers were Massimo Mastromano, Timmy Dehoux and West with six each.

Earlier that week, Mathews hosted West Point and lost to the Pointers, 55-12. West and Wells provided the scoring for the Devils in that game, with West gaining 86 yards on eight carries while Wells picked up 24 yards on five carries. Leading tacklers in that game were Mastromano (10 tackles) and Dehoux (eight).

The JV Devils will finish out the abbreviated season on Wednesday, March 31, at Goochland High School.
