Juvenile arrested following online threat aimed at GHS

An online threat aimed at Gloucester High School last Thursday resulted in the arrest of an unidentified male juvenile who is not currently enrolled at GHS.

Gloucester Sheriff’s Office Major Ryan Cookson said the GHS administration and a school resource officer were alerted to a possible threat and that an investigation revealed a social media post that depicted an armed juvenile in a ballistic vest making threats toward GHS.

Cookson said deputies responded to a Gloucester address where the juvenile suspect, a former GHS student, was detained. He said two loaded handguns, which had been recently stolen, were also recovered at the scene. The investigation also revealed that two of the juvenile’s family members had been recently assaulted during a separate incident.
