‘Justice for J6’

About two dozen Mathews residents attended a “Justice for J6” candlelight vigil last Thursday, Jan. 6, at Liberty Square, in support of the hundreds of individuals arrested and charged after the march on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 in an effort to stop certification of the election of President Joe Biden. Among those present at last Thursday’s rally were Mathews County supervisor Mike Walls and his wife, Tammy, shown at front right in the photo above pledging allegiance to the flag. The group also sang patriotic songs, and said prayers for those arrested. Some speakers at the event claimed the arrests were unfair and that those still being held in jail are political prisoners.
